September 4, 2013 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting
The agenda meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on September 4, 2013 at 7:48 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.
Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.
Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Bill Higgins, Sr., Bill Higgins, Jr., Jim Souza Eddie Sheehan
Also present: Firefighter Stellmach, Firefighter Lorenzen, L. Higgins, (First Aid)
EMS, Laura Higgins
Received an email from ADP regarding Affordable Health Care Act that she will forward to Ed Mullen so he has a copy of it.
A/C units are not working properly. Laura will go to Home Depot and buy new filters and replace them. If that does not fix them they will call someone in to take a look at them.
The Squad has not received any money from billing yet. There is a hold up with the application on Medicare. George will be calling to find out why it has not cleared yet.
Laura would like approval to use the Suburban for the Tunnel to Tower run on September 29.
Treasurer’s Report, Commissioner Souza

Motion to accept Treasurers report was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Sr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
Commissioner Souza stated that it should be noted they are going to Wildwood to look at a new ambulance, Chief’s car, engine and Fire Prevention is looking for a van to do their investigations with.

Commissioner Higgins is still waiting on the proposal from the guy who they are looking at to get the furniture from.

Chief had to discuss percentage and drills with a few guys.

12-31 A/C problem has been fixed.
12-35 the break line was repaired.
12-21 has an oil leak that Mitch is looking into.
12-31 the ripped seat was fixed.

Half of the stuff that the Chief requested has been ordered the other half he requested the Commissioner are holding of on right now.
Old Business
A motion to do a resolution to go into shared services with the township for the outside sign was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
Chief’s Report, Asst. Chief Stellmach
Officers had a meeting last night and spoke to the following firemen regarding to pick up their percentages and drills: Schleck, Rawa, Langley, Melasippo, Greves, Garrett, Fishgrund, A. Fugaro, Dalu, Cifelli, Almeida
Asst. Chief Stellmach received a complaint that the guys need to slow down when coming to firehouse on a call. He will bring it up at the Company meeting tomorrow. He will also go over LOSAP again at the Fire Company meeting.

Firefighter Giardina gave an update on grants. He will be putting in an equipment grant for the tower ladder.
